TFS Oleodinamica on Track for Hägglunds Service Partner Certification
Currently in the process of becoming a Hägglunds Service Partner
Hägglunds: Bosch Rexroth’s business unit for high-torque motors
Hägglunds is the Bosch Rexroth business unit dedicated to radial piston hydraulic motors for high-torque, low-speed direct drive applications. Founded in Mellansel, Sweden, and part of the Bosch Rexroth Group, the Hägglunds line is the global benchmark for those seeking continuous operation without intermediate mechanical gearboxes: the motor connects directly to the machine, eliminating couplings, belts, and gearboxes, with significant gains in compactness, reliability, and maintenance.
The range is divided into three main families: radial piston motors (CA, CAb, CB, CBm, CBp, Atom, Viking, MA/MB), integrated drive systems (Hägglunds Drive, Hägglunds Atom, Hägglunds Infinity), and monitoring software (Hägglunds Inside for predictive maintenance). As a Bosch Rexroth Center of Excellence (CE Partner), TFS Oleodinamica integrates the Hägglunds range into its consulting, supply, and technical support services, with direct access to the Bosch Rexroth original spare parts supply chain.

The Hägglunds motor families we support
TFS covers the entire Hägglunds motor range: from the historic series still widely installed in Italian industries to the latest-generation models. Below are the main families with their respective displacement ranges and applications.
Hägglunds CA and CAb Motors – Compact and Versatile
The CA series motors are the most widely used in the Hägglunds range for medium-sized mobile, marine, and industrial applications. Available in CA50, CA70, CA100, CA140, and CA210 displacements (50 to 210 cm³/rev), they operate at continuous pressures up to 350 bar with nominal speeds from 5 to 160 rpm. The CAb series (10/20/30/40) is the next-generation version: lighter construction, improved sealing, and mounting compatibility with the previous CA50–CA100 models. Typical applications: traction winches, paper mill refiners, marine auxiliary propulsion systems, compact mining machinery.
Hägglunds CB, CBm, and CBp Motors – for heavy-duty industrial applications
The CB family is the quintessential process motor in the Hägglunds range. The CB series covers the CB280, CB400, CB560, CB840, and CB1120 displacements (from 280 to 1,120 cm³/rev), with output torques up to 380 kNm. The CBm Compact Magnum series increases displacement up to 6,000 cm³/rev (models CBm2000, CBm3000, CBm4000, CBm5000, CBm6000), with rated torques exceeding 1,970 kNm: it is the benchmark for heavy-duty conveyor belts in mines and for mills in paper mills. The CBp series (CBp140–840) features an integrated planetary pinion for applications where axial compactness is a priority.
Hägglunds Atom – the new compact generation
Hägglunds Atom (models 10/20/30/40) is the series designed to replace gearmotor solutions in space-constrained environments. Compared to the CA series of the same displacement, Atom offers higher power density, optimized hydraulic connectors, and compatibility with the Hägglunds Inside system for remote monitoring. It is the go-to choice for new installations in mobile, light marine, and compact industrial machinery.
Hägglunds Viking (UK) – large displacement for extreme loads
Viking motors (UK44, UK64, UK84 series) cover the largest displacements in the Hägglunds range for direct-drive applications on large-scale systems. From displacement UK 44-03300 up to UK 84-38000, with rated speeds of 0.5–15 rpm and torques exceeding 3,000 kNm. Primary applications: wide conveyor belts in mining, rolling mills, and marine transmissions for maneuvering propulsion.
Hägglunds MA and MB – widely installed legacy series
The MA (MA141, MA200, MA283) and MB (MB283, MB566, MB800, MB1150, MB1600, MB2400, MB3200, MB4000) are the motors from the previous generation of Hägglunds still present in thousands of Italian facilities. TFS offers comprehensive support for these series: diagnostics, overhauls, original spare parts, and upgrades to the CA/CAb or CB/CBm series, which are compatible with the same mounting footprints where possible.
Integrated drive systems – Hägglunds Drive, Atom, and Infinity
Hägglunds offers three integrated drive platforms. Hägglunds Drive combines a CA/CB motor with a dedicated electronically controlled hydraulic power unit, optimized for heavy-duty industrial applications. Hägglunds Atom in drive configuration is the compact all-in-one solution for new installations with limited space requirements. Hägglunds Infinity is the variable-displacement multi-motor platform for applications with multiple drive points and synchronization requirements (multi-section conveyors, continuous production lines).
Industries where we operate with Hägglunds motors
Hägglunds radial piston motors are designed for the most demanding applications in heavy industry. TFS operates in the following sectors with specific technical expertise in the selection, supply, and overhaul of installed Hägglunds motors.
- Paper and pulp – refiners, diggers, presses, and winders. CBm motors are the OEM of choice for ball mills and disc refiners in paper mills; their constant torque at very low speeds ensures fiber quality and 24/7 process continuity.
- Mining and Quarrying – heavy-duty conveyor belts, jaw and cone crushers, SAG and ball mills. The Viking and CBm series dominate this segment thanks to their structural robustness and ability to withstand high starting torques without intermediate gearboxes.
- Metals and steel – coil winders, uncoilers, drive drums in rolling mills and surface treatment lines. Continuous speed and torque control with Hägglunds integrated drives allows for precise adaptation to variations in belt diameter and tension.
- Marine and offshore – mooring winches, anchor winches, shipboard cranes, and maneuvering thrusters. CA and CAb motors are certified for marine environments; the absence of gearboxes reduces critical failure points in offshore operations.
- Renewable energy – pitch and yaw systems for onshore and offshore wind turbines, tensioning winches for submarine cables, drives for concentrated solar power (CSP) plants.
- Sugar and food processing – knife mills for sugarcane crushing, batch mixers, agitators for fermentation tanks. High torque at low speeds and simple construction result in reduced maintenance in the humid and corrosive conditions typical of this sector.
