The hydraulic power unit is not a standard catalog item: it is an integrated system comprising a pump, tank, filtration system, valves, accumulators, instrumentation, piping, and an electrical panel, all sized for a specific duty cycle. TFS designs and manufactures complete hydraulic power units in-house, performing thermal, noise, and flow rate tests, and manages subsequent transport and installation at the customer’s site. For each system, TFS develops the hydraulic layout, sizes the tank based on dissipated power, selects the motor-pump unit, defines the filtration and accumulator package, and integrates the control instrumentation. The piping phase is managed on-site with certified welds and leak tests. Commissioning includes flushing the system until the required cleanliness class is achieved, parameterizing the pressure and flow valves, and calibrating the electro-hydraulic actuators. When requested, TFS also develops the control software that manages the work cycle. Systems intended for the marine, Oil & Gas, or railway sectors are built with complete documentation for RINA, Bureau Veritas, or equivalent certification.
From customer specifications to the operational system
The TFS workflow begins with an analysis of the required cycle (pressure, flow rate, operating frequency, ambient temperature), followed by the drafting of the hydraulic diagram, thermal and hydraulic calculations, component selection, prototyping, and workshop construction. This is followed by bench testing with cycle simulation, transportation, installation, flushing to the target cleanliness class, commissioning, and training of operating personnel. Each step is documented and archived in the machine file.
Custom-designed hydraulic piping
The piping for an industrial system requires dedicated design: selection of materials based on operating pressure and process fluid, sizing of diameters for optimal flow rates, and routing that minimizes pressure drops and facilitates maintenance. TFS manufactures lines using Alfagomma flexible tubing and rigid tubing with certified welds, performs hydrostatic testing, and manages the cleaning map in accordance with ISO 4406. Piping for marine use receives RINA certification upon completion of installation.
Commissioning, Scheduled Maintenance, and Support
TFS commissioning includes controlled system start-up, valve parameterization, verification of cleanliness classes, and operator training. For systems already in operation, TFS offers preventive maintenance contracts for fleets of power plants: periodic oil sampling, scheduled filter replacement, accumulator checks, and scheduled overhauls of pumps and motors. On-site support is guaranteed with agreed-upon response times and comprehensive management of the machine’s service history, including control software updates.
